In reply to Your Lordship's
Despatch No. 328 of the 24th. ultimo, I have the honour to
forward the enclosed copy of evidence taken by the Assist-
-ant Superintendent, Victoria Gaol, on the 21st. of last
July in respect of a charge that Chief Warder J. Sinnott
was drunk and incapable when on duty on the 6th. idem,
together with a minute by the Superintendent, Victoria
Gaol, dated the 23rd. idem, deciding that Mr. Sinnott
should be reduced from the rank of Chief Warder to that of
Principal Warder. This decision was confirmed by me on the
27th. idem.
2.
On the 3rd. of last August the
Superintendent of Victoria Gaol again reported Mr. Sinnott
for being drunk when on duty. I attach the notes of the
evidence taken by the Assistant Superintendent on that
day together with his finding, a minute by Dr. Moore,
